Tell me if this sounds familiar…
You have things you want to do. Inspiring, gorgeous, life-changing things. Maybe a work project, or an art installation, or writing a book, or landing your first freelance client. Maybe you have just the seed of an idea, but you know it will grow into something beautiful.
You believe in your ideas. You believe in your determination to see them through. But when you ask yourself, “How do I make this happen?” what you hear is a resounding…
I don’t know.
And suddenly the creative energy grinds to a halt. The logistics flood in. The Pro/Con List ritual begins. Your mind spins round and round trying piece together a road map that will lead you to your destination, this thing that you and you alone can bring forth into the world. And yet…
I don’t know.
When I chose to stop consulting in the tech world and grow Studio Kittie full time, I spent months trying to logic and plan my way out of I don’t know. I believed with all my heart that if I took just one more class, read one more book, perfected one more mantra, the road map would magically unfold and my path would become crystal clear.
Sadly, this belief was false. I was heartbroken to discover I couldn’t think my way out of it. I had to find a different way to relate to the naturally occurring uncertainty, and the sabotaging fear, that emerges when we are called to create something profound and share it with the world.
I don’t know.
But I trust.
Instead of agonizing over my uncertainty, I faced up to it. I acknowledged it as part of the process. I learned to let it flow through me, because then I could move past it and anchor into something far more powerful: Trust.
Trust is intensely personal, and there’s no wrong way to do it. Trust in what makes you feel empowered, loved, recognized. Trust in your loved ones to carry you; angels to guide you; sleeping in to rejuvenate you; trust in your own perfectly wise inner nature. Trust in the things that make you feel Spacious and Clear, because through these feelings, the next step will reveal itself. And the next. And the next. And then the path truly does unfold.
One of the most powerful ways to anchor into your trust is to wear a physical symbol of it - a talisman - so that it can do the work of reminding you. Believe it or not, I was never a regular jewelry wearer… until I recognized its power beyond beauty to anchor me in my trust. Now, when I wake up, I put on the jewelry piece(s) that I know will nurture the energetic support I need that day.
So if you’re getting caught up in I don’t know, take a deep breath and think about the things you trust in. Find a talisman to help you anchor in. If I can help you create that perfect piece of jewelry, let me know. But most importantly, trust that the next step is ready and waiting for you, and you will find it.
I'm pleased to announce a new feature on the Studio Kittie website -- you can now browse all jewelry on one page!
